El Cotillo is located some 40 kilometers from Airport, and it pertains to the municipality of La Oliva. It is also conveniently close to Corralejo. As to its tourist appeal, El Cotillo is a rather discrete presence, featuring, at the same time, its undeniable inner value.

El Cotillo excels neither in terms of nightlife nor in respect to shopping. Sports opportunities, as well as car and bike rental are close to nothing in this resort, but, on the other hand, the waters washing the beaches of El Cotillo are ideal for diving, plenty of diving centers opting for this location as diving spot.

There is one museum in El Cotillo which is worth noting. This is the Museum of Traditional Fishing (Museo de la Pesca Tradicional) which is always an instructive experience for tourists who want more from their stay in Fuerteventura.

In addition, the famed Fuerteventura Music Festival (Fuertemusica) is held in El Cotillo each June, which is, perhaps, one of the main reasons El Cotillo breathes from a tourist point of view.

Adding the fact El Cotillo is a small port on Fuerteventura, one can easily understand the sailing and island hopping opportunities opened by this formerly small fishing village.

Some tend to believe El Cotillo has lost much of its rural charm, but others still have the ability of discovering the allegedly lost character of El Cotillo behind the developing tourist infrastructure. However, the presence of a tourist information office in El Cotillo ascertains the resort is relevant for the overall tourist picture of Fuerteventura.
